How to Become an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI)
Qualifying as an Approved Driving Instructor involves completing three stages. TUZO Academy will guide and support you throughout the journey, from your first theory study through to your final instructional ability test.
Part 1: Theory
Build your knowledge of road safety, driving theory and instructional techniques before taking the ADI Part 1 theory test.
Part 2: Driving Ability
Develop your driving to the high standard required of an instructor and prepare for the ADI Part 2 practical test.
Part 3: Instructional Ability
Learn how to deliver safe, effective and client-centred driving lessons before taking the ADI Part 3 test.
Could you become an ADI?
You do not need previous teaching experience. What matters is patience, good communication and a genuine commitment to helping people learn.

The basic requirements
To become an ADI, you will need to:
• Be aged 21 or over before supervising learner drivers.
• Have held a full driving licence for at least three years.
• Complete a new Disclosure and Barring Service check.
• Satisfy the DVSA that you are a fit and proper person.
• Successfully complete all three ADI qualifying tests.
